About Clinical Research
Research is key in discoveries and breakthroughs in the medical community.
At DCOL Center for Clinical Research, we investigate new and/or better ways to treat diseases. We understand that trials are needed before a drug can become available to the general population. Therefore, we actively recruit from a database of 129,000 existing patients seen at Diagnostic Clinic of Longview. We also recruit through newspaper ads, flyers and brochures. This increases our possible demographic population to over 300,000 multicultural and multiethnic people.
We conduct Phase II - IV research. Phase II studies are rigid, well-controlled studies in a relatively small patient population, usually no more than a few hundred subjects in total. These subjects have the target disease, but no other illnesses. Phase III is the experimental study of a drug or treatment given to large groups of people to confirm its effectiveness, monitor side effects, compare it to commonly used treatments, and collect data that will allow the experimental drug or treatment to be used safely. Phase IV is the post marketing studies to describe additional information including the drug’s risk, benefits, and optimal use.
